The English language teaching and learning : my discovery Ebenezer C. Eze Apart from being widely spoken globally, the relevance of the English language in Nigeria, apart from being the language for education and official gatherings, includes its use for recording, sharing and storing of official government documents, its use for broadcasting government information, its use for writing government contracts both locally and internationally with either companies or nations, and its broad use by individuals from different ethnicities for communication between each other or among one another. For effective learning of the English language to ensure , its teachers should be good at it, both in writing and in speech. If not, students would learn what the language is not and as such would be speakers of a language that does not exist.
